A couple years ago, my family and I went to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina for an Indian wedding. There were many ceremonies involved and we attended three of them. First, there was the grah shanti ceremony which was a prayer ceremony that the future bride and groom partook in. That was in the evening and the next day was the wedding. We were from the groom's side so we were part of the "barat" or the groom's wedding procession. There was music and dancing as we walked to the wedding hall. The bride's family welcomed us there and then the wedding started. It was traditional and consisted of hindu rituals, a main ritual being when the bride and groom took 7 rounds around the sacred fire. Later that evening was the reception where we celebrated the new marriage. The wedding was very fun because I got to be with my family and relatives and enjoy all of the ceremonies. The location was also very nice and we did go to the beach for a little bit. This was truly an amazing experience.
